The sawmill and wood processing plant was opened in the settlement of Tikhoritsy in 2007. In 2018, a new plant in the village of Mga was opened for the production of aspen and birch veneer.
At the wood processing sites of RUNKO GROUP, they produce sawn wood of any degree of humidity, rough-sawn stock, which are exported to the European furniture factories, as well as split dry wood and briquettes in boxes and meshes.
The sawmill and wood processing facilities have a drying complex with a single-load capacity of 1,600 m3 and a well-developed infrastructure.
RUNKO GROUP focuses on the efficient processing of soft-wooded broadleaved species, which account for more than two-thirds of the raw material stock of the leased territories.
The forests that are rented by RUNKO GROUP are located in the North-West of Russia – in the Leningrad Region at the territory of more than 300,000 hectares, where the whole complex of forest regeneration activities is carried out: planting of pine and spruce seedlings, care for previously planted forest, as well as a full felling cycle. The company carries out a lot of fire-prevention measures: such as creation and renewal of fire barrier lines, clearing of compartment lines, installation of local information boards, and arrangement of leisure areas with bonfire sites.
The rented forest plots and the forest management system of the company’s internal supply chain are certified according to the international system of voluntary forest certification FSC™ (Forest Stewardship Council™).
